More details have emerged on the pursuit of a man in a stolen Hummer on October 9th. New York State Police in Norwich observed a red 2007 Hummer traveling south on State Route 12 in the Town of North Norwich. This vehicle matched the description of a stolen vehicle that was reported stolen from the City of Utica. Several attempts to stop the stolen vehicle were made and the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons as the suspect approached the City of Norwich and then the Village of Greene.

Police say the suspect continued driving erratically, south, on State Route 12.  As the vehicle entered Broome County, two Tire Deflation Devises were deployed by Binghamton Troopers. With the two front tires disabled, the suspect continued driving the stolen Hummer until it came to a stop on Front Street in the Town of Chenango. The suspect fled the disabled vehicle and ran into the woods.

At approximately 3:45a.m., the suspect 17 year-old La-Tee Baker, of Utica, was located by State Police Binghamton patrols in the area of Interstate 81 near Otsinigo Park in the Town of Dickinson. Baker was charged with the class D felony of 1st degree reckless endangerment and the class D felony of 3rd degree criminal possession of stolen property. Baker was arraigned at the Town of Chenango court and remanded to the Broome County jail with no bail set at this time.
