If you've noticed your partner being on their cell phone more lately than usual, it's natural to start to feel worried about what they're doing. Bustle, and researchers from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and the University of Lisbon, Portugal, have found that while it might be tempting to snoop through your significant other's phone to find out what they might be up to, it has the potential to end your relationship.

These researchers conducted a study with over 100 participants who had experience with snooping through their partner's phones or having been on the receiving end of their partner snooping around their phones.

21 of the participants who revealed what happened post-snooping, said that they ultimately ended the relationship because of it. The betrayal of trust was quoted as the biggest reason for ending things after their partner looked through their phones.

So while you might be worried about your significant other's new and different phone habits, it's much better to bring that up to them and communicate with one another instead of taking matters into your own hands and going behind their backs.
