Five Best Photos From the New York States Park Photo Contest So Far

The New York State Parks Photo Contest is about halfway through its 2022 contest season, so that seems like a good time to share some of the best photos submitted so far and remind people that they still have time to get involved in the contest themselves.

As previously reported, the photo contest rules are very simple. The contest started on June 15, 2022 and ends on October 15, 2022. But people can submit photos from anytime from June 15, 2020 to the end date of the contest. The photos must be taken on New York State-Owned Parklands and there's a variety of categories those pictures can fall into.

The categories for the contest include camping life, seasonal spectacular, action and adventure, hiking, views and vistas, and making memories. This gives participants a wide range of pictures taken at state parks to choose from. You can submit a beautiful landscape taken from atop a mountain or a picture of your kids learning to swim or going fishing for the first time.

Per the official rules, photos are judged on originality, artistic composition, technical quality, and whether the photograph showcases the best of New York State Parks camping and outdoor activities. Contest participants are allowed to submit a maximum of ten total entries.

There will be one grand prize winner who will win a $1,000 REI gift card, a four person tent, a 2023 Empire pass and a $250 NY camping gift card. The winner of each category will win a $250 REI gift card, a 2023 Empire Pass and a $100 NY camping gift card.

So if you haven't had a chance to submit your beautiful park photos to the New York State Parks Photo Contest, this is your official reminder to do so. And if you don't plan on participating, at least enjoy some of the beautiful pictures that have been taken so far.
