Just a couple of days after Fiona Apple unveiled ‘Werewolf‘ from her upcoming album ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do,’ we’ve been treated to an advance peek at another new track, ‘Anything We Want.’

Hardcore fans will no doubt recall that ‘Anything’ was one of the songs Apple debuted at her SXSW showcase earlier this year, but this is the first time we’re hearing the studio version, which preserves the song’s seesawing melody while sprinkling in some vintage Fiona Apple sonic quirk.

‘The Idler Wheel’ finds Apple breaking from longtime collaborator Jon Brion and co-producing with drummer Charley Drayton in an effort to, as she told the New York Times, “Make everything as stark as possible, so you could hear everything.”

That commitment to total honesty has always been reflected in Apple’s searingly personal lyrics, and she says fans can expect more of the same on the new album. “I really let everything just get spit out. I would not second guess anything,” she told the New York Times. “If I have one success in my relationship history it’s with the people who listen to my music. I think that they’ll be there with me forever, and I’ll be there with them forever. And I’m totally satisfied with that.”

‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do’ is due on June 19.
