Deposit Does Away With Police & Court

The Village of Deposit has officially done away with the the town court and the police department. Resolutions were passed late last year and were put up for a public vote on Tuesday with both easily passing. Village officials say in order to keep the local police and court, taxes would have to be raised by 30%. Board members say they will work with the Broome and Delaware County Sheriff’s Offices to either match or exceed current law enforcement resources.
