A day after a summit on tourism in New York State, Governor Andrew Cuomo has returned to highlighting the need to build casinos in New York.

Cuomo says the tourism industry employs 700,000 people, and adding casinos could lead to an economic boom for the state.

He has proposed three projects out of six regions for casinos, but pointed out the state would respect treaties with American Indian tribes and would not build casinos in locations where both parties are in good standing.

Three key locations where the state continues to have disputes with local tribes are in western New York, central New York and in the north country.

The governor is optimistic that the casino issue can be resolved before the current legislative session ends.
