Cooperstown residents gave the go-ahead by voting 204 to 56 for a $5 million capital project for Cooperstown Central School. According to the school district, the next step is the design phase of the project, which school officials say promises excellent prospects for the future of the school's facilities to the benefit students and community.

The capital building project includes renovating the gymnasium in the district’s elementary school, renovating the library-media center in the Junior/Senior High School, and also renovating the athletic fields to address ongoing draining issues. Along with the renovations, parking lot and sidewalk upgrades will be included. District officials say taxes will not increase because of the project.
