The long search for more Chenango County court space is almost over.

County Supervisor Lawrence Wilcox now has a plan from the county agriculture, building and grounds committee allowing Chenango County to enter into a lease with a private firm.

If approved, the space will become the home of the county’s family, surrogate, and drug court and staff.

The court clerks and court library will also be located at the new space.

New York State’s court system has mandated more space for a growing number of cases brought before the judges.
