Cheap Ways to Entertain the Kids

Has summer vacation boredom set in? It doesn't take long for the kids to get restless, but rest assured there are simple, inexpensive ways to keep the kids entertained. The list provided is geared at younger children.

Water color paint. A handy, cheap tool for hours of fun. Painting pictures for family members, to decorate the kids rooms, to use as gift wrap, even paint a game of "eye spy"...lots of ideas.
Water balloons. Very refreshing on a hot summer day. You can set up a target throw, play toss, and of course have a water balloon fight.
Flower pot garden. Have the kids decorate the flower pots and plant flowers, herbs, and veggies. Each day it is the child's responsibility to water and maintain the plants. Maybe even harvest.
Get up and play! Soccer, toss, basketball, kickball, baseball, rides bikes, and take walks. It gives everyone some exercise and quality time together.
Have a picnic. Have everyone pick an item to put in the basket to share.
