THIS IS A THROWBACK THURSDAY POST WHICH APPEARED 3 YEARS AGO!

After years of private catering in the Stamford area and of selling their unique style of barbecue chicken at the concession stand under the Del-Sego Drive-In movie, the Brooks family opened up their brand new restaurant on Rt. 7 in Oneonta's East End on June 10, 1961.

The restaurant was a modern facility with a seating capacity of eighty and a work force of fifteen.  Its iconic feature is "The Largest Indoor Charcoal Barbecue Pit In The East." It sprawls 38-feet in length.  The restaurant has expanded several times over the years.

Several generations of Brooks' have run this legendary family business over the years.  And with thousands of students having come through the area, as well as millions of tourists on their way to the Baseball Hall of Fame, well...the word is out all over America.  Brooks is the best! (But we all knew that already...didn't we!)
