A 25-year-old woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison as part of a plea bargain to avoid a second trial on charges she helped her husband kill a Pennsylvania woman during an upstate New York robbery in 2009.

Officials say that Ashley Carnevale, of Kirkwood, pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Binghamton court to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree attempted assault. She had been convicted in 2010 of second-degree murder and other charges and was serving 15 years to life when that verdict was overturned on appeal.

Authorities said she and 25-year-old Anthony Carnevale, III, tried to rob prescription drugs from a Kirkwood man's home in January 2009, when Anthony Carnevale shot and killed the man's guest, 39-year-old Jean Clark of Parsons, Penn.

Anthony Carnevale is serving 25 years to life for second-degree murder and attempted murder.
