Who knew one penny could make all the difference.  On Tuesday, I stopped by our local super center to pick up some last minute halloween supplies.  Trick or treat bucket, ribbon, oh I better get some candy.  Now we have never had a trick or treater but I always feel like I should have candy just in case.  I get to the check out and I realize that I'm a penny short.  I could have run out to my car to get the penny, but, come on, who wants the hassle?  Void the order, ask the cashier to hold your stuff, go to your car (on the other end of the parking lot), get the penny and come back, wait in line, then check out.  No, thanks.  I still had another day until Halloween so I just asked the cashier to take the candy off.

The woman behind me handed the cashier a dime.  I told her that  was okay, I could take something off.  But she insisted.  How nice.  She spared a penny and made my afternoon so much easier.  I didn't have to make another stop or worry about having to pick something up.  Thank you kind stranger.

I tried to pass on that act of kindness all afternoon.  I let cars out in front of me when I could and I just tried to pay more attention to people around me.  Sometimes something so simple really makes a big difference.  Pass it on.
