Federal, state and local lawmakers will be out in force Sunday attending the 38th Annual Lobsterfest at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. The event sponsored by the Chenango County Republican Committee, originally began as a fundraiser for then-Assemblyman Clarence “Rapp” Rappleyea.

Organizer of the event Tom Morrone says the bi-partisan family event brings out political representatives at all levels from Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Broome and Madison counties.

"Congressman Hannah, Senator Seward and Libous, Assemblymen Crouch and Finch and local dignitaries [will all be in attendance]. This year a lot of the supervisors are up for election so they'll be there this year. The sheriff is going be there this year as well, he was there last year, but Sheriff Cuddy is up for re-election and would like to visit with a lot of people at the Lobsterfest and let them know what he's thinking for the future of the sheriff's department."

Also expected is democratic Assemblyman Bill Magee, chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee. The event features a wide variety of food and of course lobster to eat there or take home. The Lobsterfest runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. Tickets are still available from Tom Morrone at 334-3234.
