New York has many great large cities and smaller towns and villages.  And within these smaller locations are some wonderful neighborhoods. Here are ten favorites.

These neighborhoods are easily walkable and you will learn much. Some offer guided tours, some offer information for self-guided walking tours, and some even offer details for driving tours. All are fascinating.

These ten neighborhoods are the perfect way to spend an afternoon when visiting these places. And, oh the things you will see and you will learn.

How about the neighborhood that has many 300-year old stone houses still being lived in! Yes, you read that right, 300-years old! Or, how about a neighborhood that was expressly created for the "Wizards of GE," in Schenectady. More engineering and science patents came out of this neighborhood than any other that I can think of. Plus the first lighted homes in the city! Or how about an old Hudson River neighborhood that is filled with art galleries, exciting restaurants, great museums, wonderful festivals, and (drum roll, please) a place where you can take an original, vintage trolley car ride out to the edge of the Hudson River.

These are must-sees if you are ever in town. Stop by, take a walk, and you are guaranteed to come away saying to yourself, "Now, that was fascinating!"
