Police have arrested a 22-year-old Wednesday (June 20) in connection with the murder of rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot dead outside a motorcycle shop earlier this week.

Dedrick D. Williams has been apprehended by the Broward County Sheriff's Dept. and booked for first-degree murder, according to TMZ. He was also dealt a probation violation for an outstanding grand theft auto charge and is being held without bail.

"Williams has previous arrests for cocaine possession, weapons possession, domestic violence and aggravated assault with a firearm," TMZ adds.

The site notes that police told XXXTentacion's mother at a Wednesday night vigil that Williams had officially been arrested. Someone else at the vigil said the arrest may have been the result of a chase down I-95.

XXXTentacion was gunned down Monday (June 18) in broad daylight while he was sitting in his car outside of a motorcycle dealership. Some witnesses reported seeing two masked men fleeing the scene, and surveillance videos are currently being investigated.

In the days since the rapper's murder, fans have been fixated on an eerily prescient video XXXTentacion posted in December 2017, in which he seemed to foresee his own tragic death.

“If worse thing comes to worst, and I f------ die a tragic death or some s--- and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” he said.
