Today, in music history we go back to April 2, 1987, when U2 kicked off their North American Joshua Tree tour at Arizona State Activity Center.  The band played 29 dates on the tour.  Every singer's nightmare, the night before the first show, Bono was losing his voice.

The band had a full week of rehearsals prior to the show, which led to Bono's vocals woes.  Fans didn't seem to mind.  In fact, Bono asked the audience to sing along most of the night and they were happy to help out.  His voice was fully recovered by the second show.

The tour set list included songs off "The Joshua Tree" album, including "Where The Streets Have No Name", "With or Without You", and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".
