Could New York soon ban the use of all plastic grocery and store bags statewide? That’s one of the options put forth by a NY State task force which released a report on ways to reduce the impact of the 23 billion bags used annually. Other options being suggested include implementing a per-bag fee and requiring bag manufacturers to spend more money to create a more robust bag recycling program. There are a number of municipalities across the country who have implemented plastic bag bans but so far no state has put a ban in place
