Frostbite a Threat During Recent Cold Weather
With some of the coldest days of the winter upon our region, frostbite is real concern for area residents.
Frostbite can be extremely dangerous and happens when the skin and tissue underneath freezes. Symptoms include numbness and tingling. The skin may also turn pale and hard. Frostbite typically affects smaller, more exposed areas of your body.
NYSEG Prepares for Mid-Week Winter Storm
NYSEG emergency planners are closely monitoring the winter storm expected to hit at least part of the state on Wednesday that will last through Thursday afternoon.

Possible Dangerous Weather Late This Afternoon! (UPDATED)
September 8, 2012 UPDATE 2:05PM: National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touchdown in Metropolitan New York. A tornado swept through Breezy Point in Queens, N.Y about an hour ago. Power is out there and damage is being assessed. A TORNADO WATCH has just been issued for Otsego and Delaware Counties until 10:00PM. At 2:05PM gusty winds are being reported thr0ughout our listening area. Check back here for more updates as they become available.
UPDATE 12;15PM: National Weather Service reports a long and strong line of heavy thunderstorms moving in to our listening area later thais afternoon from the west. Currently they are located just west of I-81. The storm came through Buffalo this morning causing power outages and structural damage in the downtown area. There are reports of a tornado touching down in Buffalo but this has not been confirmed by meteorologists at this time.
