The City of Oneonta's Downtown Revitalization Initiative Local Planning Committee has scheduled a Public Engagement Meeting on December 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Foothills Performing Arts Center Atrium.

The meeting will be designed to inform the public on the Committee's vision for a revitalized downtown Oneonta and to provide information on specific projects being considered. Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig will open the meeting and representatives from Stantec (urban planners assigned to work with Oneonta by New York State) will provide a 20 minute presentation on the current status of the downtown vision, goals, and projects.

The remainder of the meeting will be devoted to providing the public with an opportunity to express their ideas on the initiative. The meeting will end at 9:00pm.

Mayor Herzig states, "The Committee has developed a draft vision and has identified preliminary projects. At this time, we hope to hear the public's thoughts on the vision and projects as well as new ideas to revitalize Oneonta's downtown. I expect a good turnout and a robust discussion".

In addition, the Local Planning Committee has scheduled two more committee meetings. A meeting will be held on December 20, 2016 at Foothills, 2nd floor. The agenda will include new details on proposed projects and reports by the Local Planning Committee sub-committees. Mayor Herzig appointed each committee member to one of the three following subcommittees:

-Building Projects
-Streetscape
-Programs to Support Existing Downtown Business and Property Owners

A followup Local Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for January 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Foothills, 2nd floor. All meetings are open to the public and opportunities for public comment are provided.

The Committee is co-chaired by Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig and Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council Member Ken Meifert. For more information, contact Mayor Herzig's office.
