Oneonta firefighters were called in to aid those from other area companies in containing a church fire in Cobleskill. The fire happened Saturday evening at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on East Main Street and according to investigators it started when lightning hit the church’s steeple.

According to a post on Otsego County Fire Wire Oneonta’s ladder truck and all available manpower were called in to assist Cobleskil firefighters. Central Queensbury’s ladder truck was also called to the scene.
