The man accused of murdering an 11-year-old Morris girl was arraigned in Chenango County Court on Thursday. James Brower of Norwich pleaded not guilty in the death of Jacelyn O’Connor on Sunday at his home.

According to court papers O’Connor died of asphyxiation by smothering after Brower first sexually assaulted her.

According to Morris Central School officials, there will be a community gathering held in Jacelyn's honor with a candle light vigil at the old main entrance of the school on Monday, August 7 at 7 p.m.  In addition, the Kopp Family will be entering a memory car in Jacelyn's name at the upcoming demolition derby at the Otsego County Fair on Sunday at 1 p.m. The car will be at the school (parking lot) today from noon until 1:00 p.m. for people to come and write a message of remembrance on.
