Today, I will have my first mammogram.  Although it is a preventative screening, I am still a little nervous.

Once a woman turns 40, they should have a screening mammogram.  It is used to check for breast cancer in women who have no signs or symptoms of the disease.  Well, now that I am 41, it is time to do this.

I received my appointment confirmation call and instructions the other evening.  No deodorant, powders, lotions, perfumes, etc.  This morning I ended up taking two showers because I forgot.  I have been reassured by some friends that have already done this, that it is a simple appointment.  Good to hear.  I think it is normal to be a little anxious.

I plan on telling you about my appointment so that other women who may be a little apprehensive will know what the experience is like.  "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
