Sure, Hollywood is built on nepotism, but don't let the famous last name fool you: Kim Kardashian insists that Kylie Jenner is as "self-made" as they come, earning her Forbes cover and near-billionaire status fair and square.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in Inglewood, California on Sunday (July 29), the reality TV star and fashion mogul defended her younger sister against naysayers who claim Jenner's successful cosmetics venture benefited from the privilege of her wealthy, famous family and the platform fame has given her.

"You know, everyone has a team, I don’t care who you are. But when you don’t get it from someone else, that's 'self-made,'" Kardashian said. "It's not like that was handed to [Kylie]."

"She figured that all out. I mean, we all have," the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star continued.

Jenner's mother and momager, Kris, echoed the sentiment, sharing, "She made her own money for over a decade, she put it in the bank, she saved every nickel. And then, when she decided on what she wanted to do, she spent her money on a venture that could have gone south or north, and it did really well."

Jenner's company has made a reported $230 million in net profit since its launch in 2016, when the reality TV star's original line of lip kits sold out within just a minute after becoming available on her web store.

In early July, Forbes reported that Jenner is worth an estimated $900 million, and is just $100 million shy of becoming the world's youngest "self-made" billionaire.
