At about 12:55 AM Monday, members of the Oneonta Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress on Elm St. in the City of Oneonta. Upon arrival the officers were met outside by the homeowners who reported that the suspect was still inside the residence. At that time the officers discovered a man exiting the house through a first floor window. Officers said the male physically resisted as they took him into custody. The male was later identified as 21 year old Paul Dorego Jr. of Sag Harbor, NY. The subsequent investigation revealed that Dorego allegedly had entered the residence through the back door after breaking two windows. Police say Dorego attempted to exit the residence by climbing out of a first floor window damaging the window screen in the process. Dorego was charged with 2nd degree burglary a class C Felony, 3rd degree criminal mischief, a class E felony and the class A misdemeanor of resisting arrest.
