Pumpkins will be the theme at this Saturday’s farmers’ market in Oneonta. The event will include free samplings of ‘all-things-pumpkin’ baked goods, live music, a free prize drawing and pumpkin painting for kids. Vendors will have a bumper crop of bright orange small, medium and jumbo-sized jack-o-lantern pumpkins, pie pumpkins, hybrid pumpkins and tiny orange or white jack-be-little pumpkins. Pick up your pumpkin and visit the MSO table to register for the pumpkin glow competition that will take place on Main Street on Saturday, October 20th! 

Simply Sweets, Oneonta Farmers’ Market’s gourmet baking vendor will offer free samples of a delicious and unique pumpkin cream cheese roll and soft pumpkin cookies.  The recipe offerings at the manager’s table will include great autumn pumpkin recipes including a variety of pumpkin soup ideas. Children may visit the pumpkin painting table, hosted by students from SUNY Oneonta as a fundraiser for the Social Justice Society and by the Hartwick College Education Club.

At 11am, local trio, Plan B, will liven up the market square, playing a broad spectrum of genres, including classic country, bluegrass, folk, and old time traditional as well as classic rock. The trio consists of Wes St. Onge's on guitar, fiddle and vocals, Jeane Bennett-O'Dea on fiddle, mandolin, and vocals and Stan Rabbiner, on five string banjo, banjo-dobro and vocals.

Market vendors have a wide selection of hearty fall veggies and late season fruits. Come early for eggs. Meat and poultry offerings include lamb, goat, chicken, and beef. Vendors will also have cut and potted flowers, including mums, honey, maple syrup, fruit preserves, pancake mix, bread flour, specialty sauces, aromatherapy products, handmade wood crafts, scented candles, and more.

The Oneonta Farmers’ Market accepts WIC and Senior Coupons. **Due to new IRS rules, Oneonta Farmers’ Market vendors are no longer able to accept EBT/Food Stamps. Farmers’ market tokens may still be used.

The Oneonta Farmers' Market is held every Saturday and Tuesday throughout the season at Oneonta’s Main Street Plaza under the white canopies right in front of the Clarion Hotel Saturdays, rain or shine, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; Tuesdays 10 am – 3 pm. (Tuesday markets are held weather permitting throughout Oct.) In November the market moves inside to the Main Street garage walkway two doors down from Latte Lounge and continues throughout the winter.
