If you're like me, all year you've been saving up all those dead household batteries, old cleaning chemicals you no longer need, leftover cans of paint, or anything else along those lines that shouldn't be thrown out with the regular trash.  Properly disposing of dangerous chemicals and other toxic items is simply the right thing to do for the environment. That's why Otsego County is holding a free Hazardous Waste Collection Event this Friday and Saturday.

This Friday, it will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Unadilla Town Highway Building and the next day, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meadows Office Complex in Cooperstown.  Otsego County is making it very easy and you don't even have to register if it's for your household.  The time range to arrive depends on the first letter of your last name.

A thru H: Arrive 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
I thru Q:    Arrive 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
R thru Z:  Arrive 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
