Cuomo Restores Voting Rights For Parolees

New York is granting parolees the right to vote. According to Governor Cuomo's Office, the move comes from an executive order signed Wednesday granting voting privileges to the 35,000 New Yorkers who’ve served their sentence. In a statement Cuomo says allowing parolees to participate in voting is another way to help them re-establish ties to the community as law-abiding citizens. New York joins fourteen other states and the District of Columbia that restore the right to vote upon release from incarceration.
