New York State is awarding Cooperstown a $3 million grant for upgrading Doubleday Field. According to Governor Cuomo’s office the grant will ensure Doubleday Field’s long-term future as a staple of the local economy and the game of baseball. The renovations include replacing bleachers, improving pedestrian and disability access, repairing the field, and adding green space. Earlier this year Senator James Seward announced a $1 million grant to go toward the $5.8 million project.
