Cochlear Implants Help Defeat Deafness [Videos]
We had the great pleasure of meeting Noah Trong this morning on WSRK. Noah was born profoundly deaf and has made disability awareness and education his Eagle Scout project. Noah is a cochlear implant patient and I have to say this electronic devise is awesome. Sounds are picked up by a microphone, processed, transmitted, then converted to electric pulses. The implant gives the wearer a useful representation of surrounding sounds. It is really amazing.
Noah will presenting, along with Bassett Medical Center's Otolaryngology Department: A Disability Awareness Forum on June 28 at 5:30pm Clark Auditorium, Basset Medical Center, One Atwell Road, Cooperstown.
I was pleased to meet Noah and he was very forthcoming when I asked him about the implant. I know he'll help people obtain a better understanding of those with disabilities and that they don't have to hold you back. Best of luck with your Eagle Scout project.
