Today in music history, June 28,  we go back to to 1997, when Puff Daddy and Faith Evans started a three week run at number one on the U.K. singles chart with "I'll Be Missing You".  The single went number one in the U.S. June 14 that year and stayed on top for eleven weeks.  The single was in memory of rap artist, NOTORIOUS B.I.G., who was murdered  March 9, that same year.

On this day, June 27, in 1988, The Fat Boys, a rap trio from Brooklyn, New York,  filed a five million lawsuit against the Miller Beer Company.  The company aired a television commercial that featured three overweight rappers with the sound and likeness of The Fat Boys...

On this day, May 20, 2007, Rihanna and Jay Z went number one in the UK with the hit single, "Umbrella".  The single would stay at number one on the UK singles chart for ten consecutive weeks.  This is the longest running number one single in the UK since the band Wet Wet Wet hit number one with, "Love Is All Around"...

I'm about to confess something a little embarassing.  This is a true story.  The first time I heard Aerosmith was in 1989.  I was not aware of the rock bands existence before Run DMC remade their hit, "Walk This Way".   I really thought they were a new band...

Will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo, and Apl.de.ap are the Grammy Award winning, musical group, Blacked Eyed Peas.  On this day, April 18, 2009, this global, pop/rap/dance/r&b, group started a twelve week run at number one on the U.S. singles chart with "Boom Boom Pow".  ...

Today we wish Mr. and Mrs. Carter a very "Happy Anniversary".  On this day, April 4, 2008, pop/r&b sensation, Beyonce and rapper, producer, Jay Z were married at his New York apartment.  Among the guest list were Coldplay's Chris Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow, and Destinys Child's Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. ...

It seems like an unlikely partnership, but Miley Cyrus has teamed up with Snoop Lion for a new duet called, "Ashtrays and Heartbreaks".  The single will be featured on Snoop's upcoming album, "Reincarnated".  We want you to take a listen to the single and let us know what you think...

I was watching VH1's "40 Greatest Hip Hop Songs of the 90s (Hour 2)" when the 1997 song "Mo' Money Mo' Problems" from Notorious B.I.G. featuring Mase and Sean Combs (called Puff Daddy at that time) came on.  The guest commentators starting talking about the song and the genius of using Diana Ross's "I'm Coming Out".  Wait a minute, what?!

It was the fall of 1990.  I was heading into my senior year of high school at Laurens Central School.  There was a song that everyone was singing and dancing to.  There was a style of hair cut that many boys tried to carry.  It was a fever caused by artist Vanilla Ice and his number one hit, "Ice Ice Baby".
