On this day January 3, 1987, Aretha Franklin became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.  Born March 25, 1942 in Memphis, this legendary performer has thrilled audiences for decades.  Singer, songwriter, and pianist, Franklin scored her first Billboard hit in 1961 after signing with Columbia Records in 1960.  Starting as a jazz artist, she took a dramatic turn in style after signing with Atlantic in 1966.  It was then that the R&B hits kept coming.
