Are You TUFF eNUFF?
By: Kelli Whitman (Town Square Media Intern)
On Saturday, September 17th, the trails of Gilbert Lake State Park will be transformed into the region’s largest obstacle course for the TUFF eNUFF 5K Obstacle Challenge. The race consists of over 15 different obstacles that will challenge your strength and endurance, over a 3.1 mile span. The race is open for all athletic abilities. Participants can run, walk, and splash through the course while having a great time. There will be a competitive wave along with two regular waves. Children will also have their own separate mini wave. Prizes will be given to participants that finish first in the competitive wave and junior participants in the regular waves. Various team prizes will be awarded for different categories such as "Top Fundraising Team," "Best Dressed Team" and more. Don’t want to be in the race? That's okay, you can volunteer! Volunteers will be needed to help set up before the race and help clean up afterwards. All participants, along with families and friends, are welcome to reserve a camp site for the weekend at the Gilbert Lake State Park. All proceeds from fundraising and registration will go straight to the LEAF Council's work to help youth and families overcome the hardships associated with addiction and substance abuse.
Participants can register:
Friday, September 16th from noon to 7p.m. at the LEAF offices (80 Water Street)
Saturday, September 17th from 8a.m. to 11a.m. at the Beach Pavilion (Gilbert Lake State Park)
