New York State Electric and Gas is reporting a number of its substations with arcing issues early May 2.

Broome County Emergency Services officials reported sending Deputies and fire crews to a NYSEG substation on Penny Street in the Town of Chenango for a possible transformer problem but power at 3:40 a.m. had been reported out to much of Port Crane.

Authorities were being told by NYSEG that there had been several substations experiencing arcing between Oneonta and Binghamton.

Meanwhile, over 1,000 customers in Chenango County and close to 3,000 in Broome County were without power early in the morning according to the utility’s official website. NYSEG reported on their official website that the power was back on to all those customers by 7 a.m.
